New Covenant Community (NCC) was established in 1992 as the worshipping community of the United Campus Christian Foundation (UCCF), a campus ministry of ISU, and meets in the Campus Religious Center which is adjacent to Illinois State University.

NCC is an 5 5 Open and Affirming/More Light congregation which welcomes all persons into full participation in the life of our community, regardless of race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. NCC is also a member of The Center for Progressive Christianity (TCPC), an ecumenical coalition of like-minded congregations who embrace the search for meaning in their lives and for justice in the world, as well as a member of the Central Illinois Organizing Project (CIOP).

The format of most worship services includes time for reflection followed by community comment or discussion.  We come from various backgrounds and represent a range of ages and professions, and seek spiritual growth in a warm, intellectually challenging, Christ-centered, justice-seeking community.  The sharing of the bread and cup is a central part of our worship and we meet around the table.  Communion has a number of symbolic meanings for us.  It is a reminder of the ministry of Jesus who, in a society marked by rigid social separations invited all sorts of people to be reconciled to God and to each other around the supper table.  We, who are many and diverse, also become one Community as we share one loaf. In the tradition of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we celebrate Christ’s open table every Sunday.   We invite all who wish to do so to participate in this symbolic meal with us.

Soon after forming NCC, we wrote our own 5 3 Belief Statement, which we continue to describe as a "work in progress."  In addition, we have a 5 3 Mission Statement that was adopted by the entire congregation.

Adult Study groups are one of the strengths of the community, and a strong norm has been established which encourages serious questioning and discussion. Over the past fifteen years, dozens of small groups have studied and discussed over 70 books. Women's Retreats, movie discussions, group visits with representatives of other major world religions, and sponsoring well known speakers and singers have all enhanced the personal and spiritual growth of members and friends of NCC.

We are affiliated with the following denominations:
